The State of Special Education and Disability Services in Public Schools

Councilmember David Grosso announces the scheduling of a public roundtable of the Committee on Education on the state of special education and disability services in DC public and public charter schools. The roundtable will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 in Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building.
Over the past couple of years, there have been several changes legislative and policy changes that have impacted special education and disability services in the District of Columbia. The purpose of this roundtable is to hear from members of the public and District education officials on the state of serving students with special needs and disabilities in our public and public charter schools.
Those who wish to testify may sign-up online at http://bit.do/educationhearings or call the Committee on Education at (202) 724-8061 by 5:00pm Monday, November 14. Persons wishing to testify are encouraged, but not required, to submit 15 copies of written testimony. Witnesses appearing on his or her own behalf should limit their testimony to three minutes; witnesses representing organizations should limit their testimony to five minutes.
If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. Written statements should be submitted to the Committee on Education, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 116 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20004. The record will close at 5:00 p.m. on November 30, 2016.
